The wildfire module combines the official daily risk map by region with active official alerts when available. It is built for visitors, hikers and drivers who need to decide whether a mountain route, gorge, isolated beach or secondary road requires extra caution.
The regional colour summarizes the most relevant risk for that area. Selecting a region opens an explanation, highlighted areas and practical advice. High or very high risk does not mean there is an active fire, but it does mean you should avoid improvising in dry areas.
Active official alerts appear below the map and can be filtered by region. In case of smoke, flames, evacuation or official instructions, call 112; the Greek fire service number is 199. Never rely only on a travel website during an emergency.
The daily risk source is Greek Civil Protection, with Google Public Alerts used as an official alert layer when available. The page summarizes useful signals, but it does not replace official maps, police, fire service, civil protection or local instructions.
